Biography
Dr. David Jacoby is dean of the OHSU School of Medicine and an executive vice president at OHSU. His primary faculty appointment is professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His secondary appointment is professor in the Department of Chemical Physiology and Biochemistry, OHSU School of Medicine.
He was born in New York, and is a graduate of Princeton University and New York Medical College. He was a resident and chief resident in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital and did his fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of California, San Francisco.
He was a member of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins for 13 years, where he was research director for the division. As part of the Oregon Opportunity Act, Dr. Jacoby was recruited to OHSU as chief of pulmonary and critical care in 2003. He led the expansion of that division in patient care, research and education. He became interim chair of the Department of Medicine in 2017 and permanent chair in 2018. He was named interim dean in 2021 and permanent dean in 2022.
