Our faculty are leaders in developing and applying advanced surgical practices and designing surgical education. More than 100 faculty members come from many different backgrounds and represent a wide range of surgical fields.  

Together we: 

• Participate in professional surgical associations and specialty boards
• Support a collaborative, inclusive, team-based approach to patient care within and across divisions
• Apply the latest research and surgical techniques to patient care
• Lead studies to advance surgical treatments, including through participation in OHSU’s trauma care, surgical decision-making and gastrointestinal oncology research
• Collaborate with teams across OHSU to treat the state’s and region’s most complicated medical cases 

Kenneth Azarow, M.D., FACS, FAAP, is a pediatric surgeon, Surgeon-in-Chief and Mackenzie Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, School of Medicine. He is also Helen B. Professor of Pediatric Surgery. He has published numerous studies advancing surgical best practices, leadership and resident wellness.
