Advanced training across surgery
We offer many fellowships covering a broad range of surgical specialties and subspecialties. Additionally, we provide training to OHSU medical school students interested in pursuing surgery.

Fellowship programs by division
Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation
Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery Fellowship
- Operated with the Division of Surgical Oncology, this two-year clinical program trains you in transplant surgery and includes a hepatobiliary component.
Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
The division trains fellows primarily through the Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.
- This two-year program gives you exceptional training in cardiothoracic surgery, surgical leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork.
We also participate in the OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute’s Structural Heart Disease Fellowship. To apply, contact the institute’s education manager, Ana Martin, at plesiaa@ohsu.edu.
In special situations, we offer the Advanced Cardiac Surgery Fellowship. Email our fellowship coordinator at manelis@ohsu.edu with questions.
Division of Foregut and Metabolic Bariatric Surgery
- This one-year fellowship trains you in advanced GI/MIS and open surgery techniques in upper gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreatico-biliary surgery.
Division of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery
Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship
- This one-year fellowship trains you in surgical techniques to treat problems of the colon and rectum.
OHSU Hernia and Abdominal Wall Fellowship
- This program offers you one year of hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction clinical training.
Division of Pediatric Surgery
- This two-year clinical program trains you in the full breadth of pediatric surgery, including in specialized programs not available in many other fellowships.
Pediatric Surgery Research Fellowship
- Fellows in this program gain research experience and can then apply for the clinical fellowship.
Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery Fellowship
- This one-year program gives you thorough training in pediatric and adult craniofacial reconstructive care.
- This one-year combined program fully integrates orthopedic and plastic surgery approaches.
Division of Surgical Oncology
Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) Fellowship
- Operated with the Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation, this two-year fellowship provides specialty training for general surgeons in HPB surgery.
Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery
Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
- This one-year program helps you learn how to surgically care for trauma patients and critically ill patients.
Division of Vascular Surgery
Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship
- This two-year clinical program covers the full spectrum of open vascular and endovascular surgery.
Medical school education
We offer medical students surgical rotations in rural Oregon and Portland. Courses cover a wide range of surgical subspecialties to develop your knowledge and confidence as a surgeon.
