Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Residency Program
Train for board eligibility in vascular surgery
You will gain broad experience in complex endovascular aortic procedures and lower extremity interventions in our five-year ACGME-accredited program. Additionally, you’ll participate in combined surgeries with other subspecialists. You will finish with board eligibility for a primary certificate in vascular surgery.
Our program offers:
- A high volume of complex cases
- A subspecialized clinic for patients nationwide with genetic aortopathy and arteriopathy
- Multiple training sites, including Oregon’s only academic hospital
- Research opportunities built into the five-year training experience
Curriculum and rotations
You will rotate on clinical services at OHSU Hospital, the Portland VA Medical Center and Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. All three sites provide a full spectrum of open and endovascular surgery. You will also have time for research.
PGY-1
Your first year includes:
- OHSU vascular for three months
- VA vascular for three months
- General surgery for six months (surgical oncology, night float, pediatric surgery, trauma and emergency general surgery)
PGY-2
During your second year, you will spend:
- Three months at OHSU vascular
- Six weeks at VA vascular
- Six weeks at the vascular lab
- Six weeks at interventional radiology
- Six weeks at SICU
- Six weeks at CVICU
- Six weeks with hepatobiliary surgery
PGY-3
During your third year, you will spend:
- Six months at OHSU vascular
- Three months in research
- Six weeks in cardiac surgery
- Six weeks in transplant, trauma or emergency general surgery
PGY-4 and PGY-5
Your fourth and fifth years will include:
- Six months at OHSU vascular
- Three months at VA vascular
- Three months at Legacy
How to apply
Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), sponsored by the AAMC. We match candidates through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
ERAS application requirements include:
- Three letters of recommendation
- Dean’s letter (submitted by medical schools)
- USMLE transcript
- Medical school transcript
- Personal statement
The OHSU Division of Vascular Surgery will participate in the 2025-2026 Match. We will recruit one resident to begin July 1, 2026. All interviews will be conducted virtually.
- Application deadline: Oct. 3.
- Interview invites: Week of Oct. 27 (we will send out invites only for available interview slots).
- Interviews: Dec. 9 and 10.
- Rank list: We will be participating in the NRMP Voluntary Program Rank Order List Lock Pilot (date TBD).

- Match day: March 16.

Residency program leaders
Enjae Jung, M.D., Program Director. Dr. Jung is a vascular surgeon and associate professor of surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery. She sees patients at the Portland VA Medical Center, where she is a staff surgeon. Dr. Jung focuses on a range of vascular surgical issues.
