Biography
Zachary G. Jacobs, MD is the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director and Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine. He graduated from the OHSU School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) via the Global Health and Underserved Populations Track. He then completed an Academic Hospital Medicine Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he developed his skills in leadership, education, and scholarship. He previously served as the founding Program Director of the Transitional Year Residency at OHSU Health Hillsboro Medical Center, as well as the Associate Director of the OHSU IM Residency Global Health Scholars Program.
Dr. Jacobs is a hospitalist in the Division of Hospital Medicine. His scholarly interests include global health and health equity, education scholarship, and narrative/graphic medicine. He was drawn to a career in healthcare by the stories and enjoys writing and creating art about his experiences as a doctor. He has received awards for his commitment to the underserved as well as his teaching. Outside of work, he finds joy being with his family, spending time outdoors, reading, drawing, and traveling.
