Biography
Dr. Bailey received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University and completed her pre-doctoral training at the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium (Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine track). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Stanford Prevention Research Center and a Master of Clinical Research through OHSU’s Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Oregon and a Tobacco Treatment Specialist.
She has authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal publications. Her work examining the associations between patient factors and smoking cessation assistance in U.S. safety-net clinics was recognized by both Reuters and U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Bailey has been an ad hoc reviewer for NIH study sections and currently serves as an Associate Editor for Addiction Science & Clinical Practice. She is a Full Member of the College on Problems of Drug Dependence and has been an active member of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco for over 20 years.
Dr. Bailey's research focuses on improving access and utilization of primary-care based treatment for substance use disorders, including understanding how state and federal guidelines and policies impact this care. She is currently the PI of an NCI-funded R01 project aimed at increasing the reach of state tobacco Quitlines in community-based primary care settings and an R01 funded through the NIDA HEAL initiative examining the impact of telehealth expansion on the treatment of opioid use disorders in primary care. In addition, she serves as an MPI on an NIMHD-funded R01 assessing the impact of a Medicaid guideline requiring smoking cessation prior to elective surgeries on smoking- and surgery-related outcomes.
