Biography

Patty Carlson-Kuhta has moved up and down the West Coast during her career – starting with an undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada and graduate/postdoctoral work at the UCLA before arriving at OHSU. Dr. Carlson-Kuhta’s research background is in Kinesiology and her research interest is on the neural control of gait and balance in healthy people and the changes in people with movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease. Recent projects have focused on the use of wearable motion sensors to quantify walking and balance, both in the clinic and during daily life, and well as looking for optimal rehabilitation interventions.
