Research areas: Structure and function of oxidase and oxygenase metalloenzymes;coordination chemistry and biochemistry of copper with particular focus on the role of copper in neuroendocrine function, pathogen virulence, and cancer. Biochemistry of metal homeostasis in human and bacterial cells with emphasis on the mechanism of import, trafficking and export;spectroscopy of metal sites in proteins using EPR, EXAFS, absorption edge, X-ray emission and FTIR spectroscopies.
