Kenneth R. Gundle, M.D.
- Associate Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine
Biography
I’m an orthopedic surgeon specializing in tumors of the musculoskeletal system, including both benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors. I care for patients with conditions such as sarcoma and metastatic disease to bone, and I work closely with a multidisciplinary team to create individualized treatment plans that bring together the latest research and technology with compassionate care.
I grew up in Portland and am proud to practice medicine in the community where I was raised. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and my medical degree from Harvard Medical School. I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center and then pursued fellowship training in orthopedic oncology at the University of Toronto. I am board-certified in orthopedic surgery.
My research on new ways to improve outcomes that matter most to patients has been presented at regional, national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. I also believe in supporting the families and communities affected by these conditions, such as through the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation.
In Portland, I am joined by my wife and son, dog and cat, as well as a large extended family with deep roots in the region. An avid gardener in our maritime climate, my family enjoys cooking as well as the amazing Portland-area restaurants and farmers’ markets. I passionately believe in the mission of OHSU to care for patients throughout Oregon and the region.
