Jung U. Yoo, M.D.
- Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine
Biography
I joined OHSU in 2004 as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, a role I held for 16 years before transitioning my focus back to what I'm most passionate about: surgical practice and teaching. My clinical expertise centers on diagnosing the source of spine pain and developing effective treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique situation.
Throughout my career, I've been committed to advancing spine surgery through research, particularly in enhancing the success of spinal fusion and exploring regenerative medicine approaches using patients' own stem cells to engineer new bone and cartilage. I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University and a fellowship at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse. I'm board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
