David Pettersson, M.D. (he/him)

Dr. Pettersson received his medical degree from Michigan State University. He did an internship at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane, WA and completed residency training in diagnostic radiology at OHSU, where he served as chief resident. He completed fellowship training in clinical neuroradiology at OHSU and a research fellowship year in the neuroradiology section at OHSU.

Dr. Pettersson serves as the Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at OHSU. In this role, he helps to adapt the latest MRI techniques for routine use in OHSU’s clinical MRI scans, allowing for more confident and accurate diagnosis of disease. Specifically, he has brought 3D imaging techniques to most types of neurological MRI scans, allowing for better depiction of disease. He also oversees safety in the MRI department and leads OHSU’s functional MRI (fMRI) program.

Lastly, Dr. Pettersson is dedicated to medical education. He serves as Editor-in-Chief for the American College of Radiology’s Case-in-Point program which brings web-based radiology teaching cases to hundreds of medical professionals daily, earning them CME credit. He oversees an exchange program with Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand for radiology residents interested in global health. Also, whether he is in the lecture hall or in the radiology reading room, he enjoys teaching learners of all levels of experience.
