Biography

Bruce Branchaud, Ph.D., is a distinguished scientist at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center (CEDAR) and professor emeritus at the University of Oregon, department of chemistry and biochemistry.

His research expertise includes synthetic organic chemistry, mechanistic/physical organic chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, enzymology, chemistry-enabled biotechnology, biochemistry-enabled biotechnology.

He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Harvard University in 1981. NIH Postdoctoral Fellow 1981-1983, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. University of Oregon Faculty Member 1983 – present (Asst. Prof. 1983-1989, Assoc. Prof. with tenure 1989-1994, Full Prof. with tenure 1994-2007, Prof. Emeritus 2008-present). Director of Global Chemistry at Invitrogen 2005-2008. Research Fellow and Leader for Emerging Technologies-Chemistry at Life Technologies 2008-2011. Science Advisory Board Member and Shareholder with Complexa, drug development company. Co-Founder SupraSensor Technologies, Eugene, OR, precision agriculture company, founded 2012, acquired by Climate Corporation in 2016. Consultant and Shareholder, Pulse Health / Revelar, Lake Oswego and Portland, OR, diagnostic instrument company, 2014-present. Co-Owner Gen10 Bioscience, San Diego, CA, biotech company, 2015-present.

Honors and awards include National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA 1981-1983, Fellow of the Alfred P.
