Dr. Pierce’s clinical practice is focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of all forms of memory loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and dementia with Lewy Bodies/Parkinson’s disease dementia. 

She is also experienced in rare forms of dementia including atypical dementia, early-onset dementia, familial Alzheimer’s disease and other hereditary dementias (Huntington’s disease), progressive supranuclear palsy, FTD-ALS, prion diseases (CJD), and autoimmune encephalopathies (limbic encephalitis, NMDA, VGKC).  She has experience utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques including neuropsychological testing, genetic testing, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, MRI imaging, FDG-PET, amyloid PET, and tau PET. 

Dr. Pierce has led multiple clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, and is focused on testing novel compounds and treatment strategies (including immunotherapy). Patients are offered the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and other research for dementia diagnosis, treatment, and prevention in the OHSU Layton Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Center.
