The Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to announce the extraordinary efforts and achievements for the 2019 Promotion and Tenure year, with promotion in rank for Drs. James Heilman and Hyunjee Kim.

James Heilman, MD, MBA, joined the department in 2014 and serves as the executive vice chair. His research interests include transitions in care, quality improvement education, and working to improve systems of care to create better outcomes for patients. Outside of the department, he serves as the chief medical transfer officer of OHSU Health System and is a member of the leadership team that developed Mission Control, a centralized operations hub empowered with predictive analytics and centralized resources to improve the quality of inpatient care across our health system.  Dr. Heilman achieved promotion to the rank of Associate Professor.

Dr. Kim joined the department’s Center for Health Systems Effectiveness in 2013. Since joining the faculty at OHSU she has dedicated the majority of her time and energy to the pursuit of scholarship and has transitioned to an independent investigator with over 25 peer-reviewed publications and support from NIH and foundation grants. Dr. Kim achieved promotion to the rank of Research Associate Professor.

We are proud of our faculty’s outstanding accomplishments and would like to congratulate them on this fine achievement and wish them the best for continued growth in academic medicine.
