Medical Students
The Department of Emergency Medicine offers a variety of medical student learning experiences designed to introduce students to the dynamic practice of emergency care. Opportunities include clinical exposure in the fast-paced Emergency Department, hands-on emergency point-of-care ultrasound, and toxicology training in collaboration with the Oregon Poison Center.
Students participate in a mix of clinical shifts, simulation activities, and structured didactic sessions. Rotations are available at the OHSU and Doernbecher Children’s Emergency Department as well as in selected community and rural emergency departments. OHSU students can find detailed course information in the OHSU Course Catalog.
In addition to medical students, the Department of Emergency Medicine also provides educational opportunities for OHSU PA and PNP students.
Visiting medical students may find more information about our Sub-Intern experience on the Visiting Student Emergency Medicine Frequently Asked Questions page.
