Consultation Services

Medical Toxicology provides bedside care to patients with poisoning or toxicity at OHSU and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Bedside consultations provide an opportunity for our students, residents, and fellows to see clinical toxicologic findings, observe cardiac rhythms and electrocardiograms, provide bedside diagnostic and therapeutic care, and provide treatment and antidotes. The consultation service cares for over 200 patients per year, mostly in our adult and pediatric emergency department and intensive care units.

Oregon Health and Science University Hospital and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital are tertiary care centers and receive patients from throughout Oregon and South Washington.  OHSU/Doernbecher is a 650-bed level 1 pediatric and adult trauma center, stroke center, with consultative services readily available.
