About me

Shelby Lee Freed is a family nurse practitioner. She enjoys caring for people of all ages, from birth through the end of life. She appreciates how family, social and community relationships can affect a person's life and health. She is interested in how food and physical activity can aid in a person's health and overall well-being. Freed also derives great joy from teaching the next generation of nurses, and from advocating for her profession.

She has special interests in women's reproductive health, food as medicine, addiction treatment and nursing education.

When she's not working, Freed enjoys spending time with her daughter, husband and two dogs and spends as much of her time outdoors as possible. She runs several races per year and, when not outside or on the road, loves to spend time in her kitchen and garden.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.
