Biography

Rich Reed is an Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and physician assistant. He specializes in the pre, post, and intra-operative care and management of both children and adults with congenital cardiac disease. Rich has over 30 years of medical experience and has spent the last 15 years practicing in the field of pediatric cardiac surgery. He has been involved with literally thousands of surgeries in his area of practice at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. His teaching responsibilities include educating and mentoring multiple different types of students and residents in the care and management of pediatric cardiac surgery patients. 

In his spare time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, including his wife Julie and their two sons, Justin and Nicholas. The family enjoys trips to the mountains, as well as the coast as time allows with their busy schedules. Justin is a freshman at Western Oregon University. Nicholas is a junior at Central Catholic High School. He is a member of the Portland Fire and Rescue Junior Academy as well as an avid golfer. Rich enjoys weightlifting, running, working in the yard and reading a good book.
