Biography
I am an oncology nurse and nurse practitioner with interests in palliative care and patient advocacy.
My nursing career includes experience working in both inpatient and outpatient cancer care settings and treating patients with solid tumor cancers as well as those with blood cancers. As a travel nurse I was exposed to a variety of treatment settings and team dynamics in Washington, Louisiana, and Colorado.
My most recent experience prior to joining OHSU was working as a nurse practitioner in an outpatient cancer research clinic in Denver, Colorado. During this time, I helped manage patient care while also implementing a variety of intradepartmental quality improvement projects including the development of a rapid response protocol, enacting “Tea for the Soul” to reduce staff burnout, and utilizing electronic patient reported outcomes (ePROs) as a means of enhancing symptom recognition. As someone who’s had a number of family members and close friends impacted by cancer, I work to ensure that every patient receives holistic and patient-centric care.
My approach to patient care:
I strive to apply a person-centric approach to every individual.
Outside of work:
I enjoy any activity that allows me to be outdoors, despite not being particularly skillful at most of these activities. I enjoy biking, hiking, snowboarding, scuba diving and kayaking.
