Biography

Katherine Barnett is an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who graduated from Rush University with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in December 2022 and joined OHSU in September 2023. Prior to her D.N.P, she worked as an oncology certified nurse with 7 years of combined experience in radiation oncology, hematology-oncology, and benign hematology. She also completed clinical training in hematology-oncology and surgical oncology at Rush University Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Barnett's previous research experience has focused on health-related quality of life and health outcomes for sickle cell patients and implementation of novel sickle cell therapies in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to research, she has led quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient education for injectable anticoagulation therapy and patient safety during brachytherapy. She is excited to continue researching quality of life outcomes for patients receiving novel oncology treatments.

As a nurse practitioner in the Department of Radiology, Dr. Barnett focuses on radiopharmaceutical therapies for oncology patients. She also serves as an instructor for OHSU School of Medicine.

Dr. Barnett is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and served on Rush University Medical Center’s Sickle Cell Committee from 2019-2022.
