J. Ryan Thrower, D.M.D., M.S., M.P.A. (she/her)

  • Assistant Professor of Orthodontics, School of Dentistry

Biography

Dr. Thrower originates from DeWitt, Arkansas. She graduated from both the University of Arkansas and the University of Georgia after earning a bachelor's and master's degree, respectively. Dr. Thrower moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2015, where she completed her dental degree and orthodontic certificate from OHSU. Interestingly, Dr. Thrower was the first dentist in the state, possibly the world, to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.

After graduating from OHSU, Dr. Thrower began working as an associate at a private orthodontic office in Portland, Oregon. She has gained extensive knowledge in surgical orthodontic cases, as well as craniofacial anomalies, specifically cleft lip and palate. Dr. Thrower will set out on her own and begin a start-up orthodontic practice in the spring of 2026 in Northeast Portland, and she is excited and honored to be able to teach and guide residents through these sorts of real-life lessons.
