Jacob Beckstead (he/him)
Biography
Jacob is a PhD student in the Health and Clinical Informatics program. His research interests center on how emerging technologies shape medical decision-making and education.
Prior to coming to Portland, Jacob studied topics ranging from professional trust in AI to colorectal cancer metastasis and squirrel social behavior. He earned his M.S. in Applied Clinical Informatics from Vanderbilt University in 2026.
Short of discovering the Kwisatz Haderach of human-AI collaboration, he hopes his work will deepen our understanding of both human inclinations and technological limitations—and how the two shape one another.
