Dr. Irene A. Gielen is a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in oncology. Her clinical interests include managing symptoms and side effects related to cancer treatment, including post-radiation care, as well as genomics, precision and lifestyle medicine.

Her comprehensive, person-centered approach recognizes that each patient’s experience is unique. She takes time to understand individual needs, goals, preferences, and values, partnering with patients to develop personalized wellness and survivorship plans. She also provides clear, reliable information and practical resources to support confident, well-informed decisions about care.

Building trusting, long-term relationships with patients is central to her practice. She collaborates closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide seamless, coordinated care. Through compassion, collaboration, and clinical expertise, she strives to make a meaningful and lasting difference in each patient’s well-being.

Her education includes an associate degree from Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. She later completed her graduate and doctoral nursing degrees at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Irene enjoys staying active outdoors with family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with loved ones, and experimenting with vegan baking.
