Emerson joins CEDAR as a Non‑OHSU Student Worker. Born and raised in Portland, he is currently pursuing a B.S. in Biology at Portland State University. His background spans behavioral healthcare—where he provided direct support to children with special needs—as well as medical administration. This has instilled a strong value for patient-centered care, especially for individuals who may experience barriers to receiving healthcare. Emerson is passionate about clinical and translational research aimed at improving treatment for patients that improve their quality of life. He plans to pursue medical school and is motivated by the long-term goal of completing an MD‑PhD, allowing him to both advance research that improve treatment options and work directly with patients to support their individual health goals. Outside of work and school, Emerson enjoys spending time with his dog, Arlo, and discovering new restaurants around the city with friends. He is excited and humbled by the opportunity to contribute to a team dedicated to improving the care and outcomes of individuals experiencing cancer.
