Biography

Christine Martin, M.D, is the Program Director in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).

Dr. Martin was born and raised in Bend, Oregon.  She attended Washington University in St. Louis, where she studied psychology and Spanish.  After working in medical research for 3 years, she moved to San Francisco where she attended the University of California- San Francisco (UCSF) for medical school and residency in anesthesiology. She moved to Portland, Oregon in 2013 for a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).  She then joined the faculty at OHSU, continuing to care for patients at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and the OHSU Pediatric Comprehensive Pain Center.   

Dr. Martin served as the associate program director for the clinical base year before taking on the program director role in 2025. She has remained active in resident and fellow education, and has worked diligently to expand the scope of education for our interns. She serves on institutional and state committees related to pediatric pain management. Her clinical and research interests include improving acute and post operative pain management after pediatric surgical procedures.   

Dr. Martin lives in Portland with her husband, Teran, and their two children (Everett- 11 and Zinnia-9).  She loves watching her children play sports and finding local outdoor adventures, including hiking, kayaking and cross country skiing.  She and her family also enjoy exploring national parks and international destinations, such as Italy, Japan, Switzerland and Australia.
