Dr. Brett Sheppard is a professor of surgery and vice chair for clinical affairs and quality in the Division of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery in the OHSU School of Medicine. He is also co-director of OHSU's Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care.

Dr. Sheppard is one of the world's leading [TM1] experts on surgery for diseases of the pancreas, especially pancreatic cancer. He also performs surgery for other diseases of the pancreas and adrenal gland, and for disorders of the stomach and esophagus. When minimally invasive surgery is possible, Dr. Sheppard uses his skills and knowledge in the procedures to help patients recover more quickly and with less discomfort.

Dr. Sheppard is deeply committed to keeping patients safe and to enhancing the quality of surgical care. His passion is learning more through research to help doctors detect pancreatic cancer earlier. Finding cancer earlier will significantly improve patient results from cancer treatment. He also performs research on improving the results of gastrointestinal (digestive system) surgery, and on how to make the best use of minimally invasive surgery techniques.
