Biography

Adem Yildirim is an assistant professor in the Division of Oncological Sciences (DOS) of Knight Cancer Institute (KCI). Adem is also a member of Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center (CEDAR) of KCI and has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His current research aims to understand and use interactions of nanomaterials with biological systems to design effective cancer nanomedicines. His research group’s ultimate goal is to translate their findings into the clinic to improve the outcomes and quality of life of cancer patients. 

Prior to joining OHSU, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Colorado, Boulder in the group of Andrew Goodwin, where he worked on the development of nanoscale contrast agents for ultrasound imaging and therapy. He received his Ph. D. in Materials Science and Nanotechnology from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey.
