Oregon Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program Applications due Jan. 11, 2027

Behavioral health professionals serving Oregon's rural and underserved communities may be eligible for significant student loan repayment assistance through the Oregon Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program (OBHLRP). The program helps recruit and retain behavioral health providers by offering tax-free educational loan repayment funds in exchange for service at a qualifying Oregon practice site. 

Applications for the current review cycle must be submitted by 12 p.m. PTJan. 11, 2027. Applications received after the deadline will be rolled into the next review cycle. 

OBHLRP is open to a broad range of behavioral health professionals, including: 

• Licensed providers: psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors and licensed marriage and family therapists;
• Pre-licensed providers: clinical social workers, counseling or clinical psychologists, professional counselors and marriage and family counselors; and
• Associate, bachelor and master’s-level providers: qualified mental health associates (QMHAs), qualified mental health professionals (QMHPs) and certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC I & II).

Award amounts are based on a provider's qualifying educational loan balance at the time of application:

• Full-time providers:
  • Three-year minimum service commitment
  • Up to 70% of qualifying loan debt
  • Maximum award of $50,000 per service year
• Part-time providers:
  • Three-year minimum service commitment
  • Up to 35% of qualifying loan debt
  • Maximum award of $25,000 per service year
