OHSU Brain Institute

Welcome to the OHSU Brain Institute

Oregon Health & Science University is a national leader in neuroscience research and clinical care, the study and treatment of brain and nervous system conditions. The U.S. National Institutes of Health ranks OHSU top in the nation for neuroscience research funding. In 2006, OHSU established the OHSU Brain Institute (OBI) to build on this tremendous strength in neurosciences.

OBI includes 11 departments in the OHSU School of Medicine, one department in the School of Dentistry and nine research institutes. It was organized to advance understanding of the treatment and prevention of nervous system diseases by promoting interdisciplinary research in basic (laboratory) and clinical (patient care) neuroscience. Having OBI increases OHSU’s ability to conduct neuroscience research, provide world-class health care and tell our stories of neuroscience discovery to the public.

Our vision is to transform these discoveries of nervous system diseases and disorders into new treatments, bringing better health care to Oregon and beyond.
