Fellowships and training
Trainees work with a high-performing team in a busy, high-risk practice with providers on duty 24/7. We’re a major referral center for Washington, Idaho, and Northern California for critical neurologic diseases.
We offer three neurocritical care fellowship options:
- A traditional two-year fellowship
- A one-year fellowship for trainees who have completed a fellowship in non-neurological critical care
- A one-year CAST-accredited neurocritical care fellowship for neurosurgery residents that is included in their residency at OHSU
Fellows can enroll in simultaneous M.B.A. or M.P.H. programs to boost their career options.
Neurocritical care research
The Department of Neurology has a national reputation for excellence in research. Neurocritical care specialists contribute to this discovery, and are involved in three current studies:
- A greater occipital nerve block trial for headache therapy
- The ketamine add-on therapy for established status epilepticus treatment trial (KESETT)
- A study to test the use of SENSE radio wave headsets to detect changes in volume of intracranial hemorrhage
- A data repository to study interventions and outcomes in patients with non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage
