Orofacial pain

You can work closely with colleagues at the OHSU Dental School to treat facial pain. We offer procedures like botulinum toxin injection, trigger point injection, supraorbital nerve block, auriculo-temporal nerve block, greater and lesser occipital nerve block and sphenopalatine ganglion block.

Outpatient IV for migraines

We offer patients rapid access to outpatient and inpatient IV therapy to treat refractory or prolonged migraine or trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain flare-ups.

Headache medicine fellowship

You can prepare for a career in headache medicine by training with our experts. We offer a one-year headache fellowship accredited by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.

Training includes:

  • A focus on evaluation, diagnosis and management of patients with headache and facial pain disorders
  • Practice in procedures such as Botox administration and trigger point injection
  • Research, case presentations and journal clubs built into your schedule

Headache medicine research

You can lead or support studies that test investigational drugs or use approved drugs in new ways to treat headache, migraines and facial pain.

Current projects include:

  • Investigating the effects of GLP1 agonists on migraine frequency
  • Studying the effect of sphenopalatine ganglion block in patients with facial pain
  • Measuring the benefits of gepants (small molecule compounds) as a mini prophylaxis for menstrual migraine
