OHSU Diversity Statement

OHSU provides equal opportunities to all individuals without regard to race, religion, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, disability, military reserve status, or any other status protected by law. This policy applies to all employment, student and patient related activities.

OHSU Department of Emergency Medicine Diversity Philosophy

The emergency medicine residency at Oregon Health and Science University is committed to creating an environment that welcomes diversity in its faculty, residents, and staff. We define diversity in its broadest terms. To give you additional help in evaluating our residency program, we have identified several individuals who would be happy to speak confidentially with you to give you their perspective on diversity in our department, the university, and the Portland/Oregon community. In addition, please refer to the OHSU Diversity web site for resource lists about OHSU and the Portland community.

If you are interested in talking with one of these individuals, please contact the OHSU EM Sr. Education Manager, Kim Regner at 503-494-1270 or via email at regner@ohsu.edu

Residency Moonlighting Policy

The OHSU Department of Emergency Medicine supports the SAEM/CORD/AAEM position statement on Resident "Moonlighting." Specifically, the independent practice of emergency medicine preferably should be provided by board eligible/certified emergency physicians.

Non-residency based emergency practice prior to completion of the residency is NOT encouraged. Such practice when under the direct supervision of a board eligible/certified emergency physician is acceptable provided the resident's development both clinically and academically is NOT compromised.
