Biography

Dr. Holt is an accomplished nurse educator and academic leader with over three decades of nursing experience. In August 2025, she accepted the Campus Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Nursing at Oregon Health Science University in Klamath Falls. Prior to this role, she held the position of Associate Dean of Sciences and Director of Nursing Programs at Shasta College in Redding, California, and previously served as Assistant Professor of Nursing and Assistant Dean of Prelicensure Programs at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.

Dr. Holt has been a registered nurse since 1990, beginning her career after earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Louisiana State University in Alexandria. She went on to complete her BSN in 2004 at Northwestern State University and earned a Master’s in Nursing Education in 2009, which marked her transition from clinical practice in acute care to academia. In 2020, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Educational Leadership at Post/American Sentinel University. Her DNP capstone project explored how the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (NCJMM) can be used as a framework for constructing multiple-choice questions that accurately assess clinical judgment—an area that remains the focus of her scholarly research.

Dr. Holt is deeply committed to promoting safe patient care. Her professional passion lies in helping nursing students develop the clinical judgment required for competent, evidence-based practice and in mentoring fellow nurse educators in designing effective instructional and assessment strategies that support critical thinking and clinical decision-making.
