Shiloh Jones, Ph.D.
- Associate Professor, Academic Affairs
- Interim Director, Anatomical Sciences Education Center
Biography
I work closely with students across OHSU’s academic health programs to support their learning in anatomy and academic medicine. As interim director and associate professor in the anatomical sciences education center, I help students build strong foundations in anatomy through hands-on, clinically relevant instruction. I serve as course director for the Foundations of Clinical Anatomy course in the physician assistant program and lead the anatomy teaching elective, which gives clinical-phase medical students structured opportunities to develop their teaching skills.
My teaching spans medical, dental and physician assistant programs, as well as the Wy’east Medicine Pathway Program —OHSU’s post-baccalaureate health education program for American Indian and Alaska Native students. I also support students through mentorship and by helping shape inclusive, effective curricula. I’m especially committed to creating environments where students feel respected, encouraged and equipped to thrive.
Before joining OHSU in 2022, I was on faculty at Georgetown University School of Medicine, where I directed the Medical Gross Anatomy course and led the Musculoskeletal Module. I’ve also taught at The George Washington University, the Uniformed Services University and the Australian National University Medical School. Earlier in my career, I worked at the U.S. Embassy in Australia as a special assistant supporting outreach and strategic communication.
My scholarly work focuses on anatomical variation and innovations in medical education. I’ve published in journals such as Anatomical Sciences Education, Stem Cells and Development and The Journal of Neuroscience. I am a member of the American Association for Anatomy, the Association of American Medical Colleges and the International Association of Medical Science Educators. At OHSU, I serve as co-director of the Gender Equity in Academic Health and Medicine Committee and represent the university in the AAMC Group on Women in Medicine and Science.
