Quiana Harshman (she/her)

Biography

As the performance improvement specialist in the Office of the Provost, I work directly with the Vice Provost for Educational Improvement and Innovation and with everyone in our department, including the Teaching and Learning Center, the Library, EdCOMM, Mentorship and Career Design, and FREE, to support, document, and improve our processes and initiatives. I also lead our work well-being efforts and events to promote work-life satisfaction and build collaboration.

I believe in storytelling as the catalyst for meaning-making. Efficiency, clarity, and rigor in data collection and analysis are all the conventional (and necessary!) goals for process improvement, but I believe that to achieve performance improvement on top of that, we need to give people the tools and the platform to tell the story of their work. To understand what we do, to celebrate the impact we have, to learn from each other, we need to make space for conversations about who we are and why we do what we do. Those conversations are at a water cooler, in a board meeting, behind the backbone of an annual report. My role at OHSU, then, is to center the voices of students, faculty, and staff, and make space for conversations.

When I'm away from the office, you can find me reading, quilting, or hosting a dinner party -- sometimes for a group of friends or family, sometimes (often) for just me, my husband, my snakes, and my cat.
