Biography

Dr. Kathryn Starr, a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at OHSU School of Medicine, received her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, medical degree at Case Western Reserve University, and completed Psychiatry residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. During residency training, she completed an independent study project looking at factors contributing to burnout in medical trainees. She has had over 10 years of clinical experience in outpatient mental health, in both private practice and at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, working in Mental Health and Primary Care settings. During this time, she most enjoyed her work supporting and training residents and fellows, contributing to her interest and experience in addressing burnout and supporting physician well-being. In her practice Dr. Starr utilizes medication evaluation and management, as well as supportive and behavioral techniques of psychotherapy.
