Biography

Judy Borgen is a master’s prepared Certified Nurse Educator with over 35 years clinical practice, focused in leadership and management, acute care in the perioperative setting, primary care, and nursing education. She is a full-time nurse educator with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Nursing (SoN) – Monmouth Campus.  In her eight years with OHSU, Judy has taught across all years of the OHSU SoN’s undergraduate curriculum with a current focus on chronic illness and end of life across the lifespan, public/population health practice, and health promotion. 

Judy’s focused work supports student engagement and transition into clinical practice for the undergraduate in palliative care and end of life.  She is currently focusing scholarly work with psychological safety in high-emotion simulation.  Judy has presented at the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE), Western Institute of Nursing (WIN), National League for Nursing (NLN) Education summit, and the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH).  In her spare time, Judy enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, and spending time with her family in Disneyland.
