Biography

A urologist by training, Hua Xie, M.D., Ph.D., has dedicated his career to research, with diverse accomplishments and a particular expertise in pre-clinical surgery. As a senior research scientist at the Center for Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Xie works with investigators to develop innovative surgical procedures that enable translational cell therapy models and techniques to treat a variety of medical problems. Dr. Xie is currently heading the center’s spinal cord injury program, and the burn regeneration program. He is also developing innovative hemostatic techniques in collaboration with industry partners for controlling refractory bleeding problems through urological and gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures. In addition to these projects, Dr. Xie's brings his surgical expertise to most projects at the center. He is an integral part of the acute lung injury program, the vascular program, and the limb regeneration program.
