Biography

Dr. Henry Milczuk is a doctor at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH). He cares for children with problems of the head and neck (Pediatric Otolaryngology). He sees children with any type of problem involving the ears and hearing, nose, throat, face, neck, and airway. He is especially interested in helping children born with anomalies like cleft lip and palate. Dr. Milczuk focuses on treatments that will restore normal hearing and speech, as well as the child’s appearance. He partners with other providers in the Craniofacial Disorders Clinic (CFD) to optimize results for these children.

Dr. Milczuk strongly believes in collaborative care amongst the numerous providers at DCH. In addition to the CFD, other multidisciplinary clinics he participates in include the Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (VPI) Clinic and Pediatric Voice Disorders Clinic. Combining the evaluation with a pediatric speech pathology partner we can offer treatment plans in one clinic visit. He also joins Dr. Lissa Baird, a Pediatric Neurosurgeon, to remove tumors from the brain through the nose. This joint surgical approach, anterior skull base surgery, allows us to treat children with these tumors without making any incisions on the skin.

Dr. Milczuk is also an Associate Professor in Otolaryngology and Pediatrics at OHSU’s School of Medicine. He has taught and mentored numerous residents, in both departments, during his 23 years at OHSU. Currently he is a member of the Credentials Committee and Pediatric Specialties Clinic Operations Committee at OHSU. Dr. Milczuk formerly served as Surgeon-in-Chief at DCH.

Dr Milczuk is active nationally and internationally. He is active with the International Working Group in Endoscopic Ear Surgery and recently presented his work in Bologna, Italy. For the past 10 years Dr. Milczuk teaches pediatric facial plastic surgery to Vietnamese surgeons at the National ENT Hospital in Hanoi. He is a co-investigator, with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Eastern Virginia Medical Center, helping to create a National Registry for patients with Juvenile Onset Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (JORRP). He is a member of an Epic Steering Committee working with others nationally to improve electronic medical record use for providers in Pediatric Otolaryngology. He trained at the University of Washington and met his wife in Seattle.
