Gareth is a National Library of Medicine Pre-doctoral Fellow studying Bioinformatics and Computational Biomedicine at Oregon Health & Science University.  He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology from Winona State University in Winona, MN.  He worked as a research assistant in ophthalmic genetics at the Casey Eye Institute and as a developer / engineer within Dr. Bonnie Nagel's developmental brain imaging lab, both at OHSU.  His work involves predicting suicidal ideation and attempt in children using machine learning. Additionally, he is interested in assessing the ability of artificial intelligence to extract meaningful information from neuroimaging data.
