Cristiane Miranda Franca

  • Research Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry, School of Dentistry

Biography

Dr. Cristiane Franca is a dentist-scientist with a Ph.D. in Oral Pathology and postdoctoral training in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. Currently, Dr. Franca is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Division of Biomaterials and Biomechanics at OHSU School of Dentistry. Her research focuses on understanding the interactions of biomaterials and the immune system to harness the integration of engineered tissues with the host. To that end, her research platform encompasses four major areas: (a) tissue engineering strategies for dental and craniofacial regeneration, (b) design, fabrication, and application of organs-on-a-chip and microfluidic microdevices to model dental and craniofacial diseases, (c) development and clinical translation of immunomodulatory materials, and (d) advanced microscopy. She has published over 70 papers in scientific journals and book chapters.
