ORH staff recently attended the National Conference for the Future of Family Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. Trixie Lacas, program manager, recruitment and retention, and Rachel Burggraff, workforce services coordinator, joined 3RNET at the conference to connect with medical students, family medicine residents and fellows from across the country. 3RNET is a resource that is dedicated to health professionals seeking careers in rural and underserved communities. 
 
Their conversations focused on opportunities to practice in rural Oregon, and highlighted Oregon’s healthcare workforce incentive programs. The conference also provided an opportunity to connect directly with Oregon residency programs that were in attendance, strengthening relationships with training programs and supporting ongoing conversations about transitioning residents into practice in Oregon. 
 
National conferences like this one provide valuable opportunities to connect with future providers early in their career planning, share practice opportunities throughout Oregon and introduce them to resources that can support their transition into practice. 
 
We look forward to continuing these conversations and building connections between Oregon’s training programs, future providers and communities seeking healthcare professionals.
