Oregon Rural Nurse Scholars Program Graduates Accept Job Offers

Map of Oregon showing where jobs were accepted

ORH congratulates the Oregon Rural Nurse Scholars (ORNS) program which recently announced that all four of its initial cohort of graduates have accepted job offers in rural acute-care hospitals in Oregon. The purpose of this program is to develop the rural nursing workforce in underserved communities across the state.

  • Sarah Downing has accepted a position in the Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston;
  • Janae Rhen has accepted a position at the Harney District Hospital in Burns;
  • Lacey Halloway has accepted a position at Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls; and
  • Haylee McNall has accepted a position at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande.

ORNS is thrilled for its graduates and the rural health care partners that have added fantastic new nurses to their workforce. As one of the ORNS scholars said, “Rural nursing involves all types of nursing and not just one specialty—you have to be prepared for anything and everything.”
