Oregon SLRP Reopening July 1 with Updates
The Oregon Partnership State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) will reopen for applications July 1, 2026, bringing new opportunities for health care providers and practice sites committed to serving Oregon’s rural and underserved communities. SLRP is a key tool for recruiting and retaining providers in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), offering loan repayment in exchange for service at eligible practice sites.
This cycle includes several important updates:
- Expanded eligible disciplines: Registered dietitians (master’s degree required) and dental therapists are now eligible to apply.
- Updated award levels:
- Full-time physical health providers may receive up to $75,000 for an initial two-year service obligation.
- Full-time dental and mental/behavioral health providers may receive up to $50,000 for an initial two-year service obligation.
- Revised part-time service commitment: Part-time providers are now required to commit to a two-year initial service obligation (reduced from four years) and may receive up to 50% of the full-time award amount.
- Expanded definition of qualifying debt: The program may now consider undergraduate educational debt and loan interest as eligible debt for qualifying providers.
- No practice site match required: In previous versions of SLRP, participating practice sites were required to provide matching funds. For this cycle, matching funds will not be required from practice sites, thanks to support from the State of Oregon through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). This change reduces the financial burden on participating sites and expands access to the program.
