Oregon Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program Applications Due Jan. 11, 2027

Healthcare professionals serving Oregon's rural and underserved communities may be eligible for substantial student loan repayment assistance through the Oregon Health Care Provider Loan Repayment Program. Established by the Oregon Legislature, the program helps recruit and retain high-quality providers by offering tax-free educational loan repayment funds in exchange for service at an approved Oregon practice site. Providers must serve all patients, regardless of insurance type. 

Applications for the current review cycle must be submitted by 12 p.m. PT Jan. 11, 2027. Applications received after the deadline will be rolled into the next review cycle. 

The program is open to a wide range of primary care, dental, pharmacy and behavioral health professionals, including: 

• Dentists (general and pediatric);
• Expanded practice dental hygienists;
• Dental assistants;
• Dental therapists;
• Pharmacists;
• Physicians (family medicine, general internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics and OB/GYN);
• Nurse practitioners;
• Physician associates;
• Licensed clinical social workers;
• Licensed marriage and family therapists;
• Licensed professional counselors;
• Psychiatrists;
• Psychologists;
• Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners; and
• Certified alcohol and drug counselor IIIs (CADC III).

Award amounts are based on a provider's qualifying educational loan balance at the time of application. 

• Full-time providers
  • Three-year minimum service commitment
  • Up to 70% of qualifying loan debt
  • Maximum award of $50,000 per service year
• Part-time providers
  • Three-year minimum service commitment
  • Up to 35% of qualifying loan debt
  • Maximum award of $25,000 per service year
