Dr. Andi Traynor was born and raised in Greeley, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and attended medical school at Saint Louis University. She completed her residency training and fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology at Stanford University.

After fellowship, Dr. Traynor worked in private practice in Fort Collins, Colorado for two years before deciding to return to academic practice at the University of Colorado. While at University of Colorado she helped further develop the Obstetric Anesthesiology division by designing the first epidural analgesia record for Epic, helping start a fetal surgery center, firmly establishing an OB Anesthesiology fellowship, and completing research work on the national OB Anesthesiology workforce.

Dr. Traynor continued to collaborate with colleagues at Stanford, including Dr. Larry Chu and the Stanford AIM Lab. Drs. Chu and Traynor designed the first online learning platform for Anesthesiology residents and were Co-Editors in Chief for two editions of the textbook Manual of Clinical Anesthesiology. She returned to Stanford to serve as the Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program Director for eight years and spent four years working at the national level as a SAAPM Fellowship Council Member. While at Stanford, Dr. Traynor worked clinically in the Obstetric and Multispecialty Division (general OR) groups. She also was a member of the simulation teaching faculty and was the Director for Promotion for the Anesthesia Diversity Council.

In 2026, Dr. Traynor moved to Portland to serve in the role of Residency Program Director and be closer to family. She has two young adult sons and a goldendoodle named Victor. She enjoys all outdoor activities but especially stand up paddleboarding, hiking, skiing, and scuba diving and is an avid traveler having most recently been on safari in Africa.
