Regional and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in our Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship program!
We are the only academic health center and regional anesthesiology fellowship program in the state of Oregon. Our program currently offers two positions in a 1-year ACGME-accredited fellowship positions commencing in August with all positions in the San Francisco Match.
Our department trains 16 residents a year and has accredited pain, pediatric, cardiac, neuro and critical care fellowship programs. Our regional fellows enjoy a supportive and collaborative environment with personal attention and instruction from the fellowship trained regional anesthesiologists in both a tertiary hospital and ambulatory settings.
The mission of the program is to be a national leader in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship education, committed to developing physicians who demonstrate professionalism and clinical excellence, dedication to life-long learning, and commitment to leadership, and advancement of the specialty of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine and within the subspecialty of regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine.

Clinical
We serve the diverse urban and rural population of Oregon. We are a referral hospital to the entirety of Oregon, southern Washington, Idaho and northern California.

- Busy regional service with >50% catheters and advanced block experience
- Dedicated block team
- Block nurse, anesthesia techs, and NP’s on pain service
- No operating room obligation
- No in-house call
Scholarly Activity
- Regularly assigned non-clinical time for research and academic projects
- Annual participation in ASRA presentations
- Fellows participate in a Grand Rounds presentation, QI projects and research
Education
- Weekly faculty led hands-on ultrasound didactics with live ultrasound models
- Regular didactics led by regional and acute pain faculty include lectures, journal clubs and anatomy lab sessions
- 1-week regional bootcamp at outset

Fellow Opportunities and Moonlighting
- Faculty Development Intensive – optional 8-week course geared towards preparation for academic practice

- Moonlighting available in operating rooms as generalists with competitive compensation (for fellows in good academic standing)
