About me

Dr. Merina Thomas is a retina specialist. Her clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, disease of the retina and vitreous and vitreoretinal surgery.

Dr. Thomas went to medical school at Vanderbilt University, then went on to complete her residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois and a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Michigan’s Kellogg Eye Center.

An Illinois native, Dr. Thomas enjoys discovering new restaurants, live music performances and traveling with her husband. She is also interested in international ophthalmology, having participated in a medical outreach trip to India in medical school and being named a Unite for Sight Global Impact Fellow selected to provide eye care with their program in Accra, Ghana.
