About me

James graduated with his B.S.N. from the University of Portland in 2013 and worked as an RN in correctional and emergency nursing until he accepted an RN position at the Oregon Health & Science University’s (OHSU) acute psychiatric inpatient unit in 2015. He continued to work for OHSU through their psychiatric unit’s closure in 2017 and helped facilitate their transfer of care to the newly created Unity Center for Behavioral Health, where he was hired to continue working as an RN in the Psychiatric Emergency Services unit. Later in 2017, he was accepted into the OHSU Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) academic program, from whence he graduated with a M.N. degree and was certified as a PMHNP in 2019. After graduation from OHSU, he was offered a position as an Instructor of Psychiatry at the OHSU School of Medicine to resume working at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health’s Psychiatric Emergency Services unit as a PMHNP.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
