About me
Dr. Christopher Pexton is a primary care physician who treats substance use disorder, psychiatric conditions, chronic disease, musculoskeletal issues and women’s health issues. He provides pregnancy care and women’s health procedures, joint and trigger point injections, skin procedures, osteopathic manipulative therapy and medication management for chronic disease, substance use and psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Pexton has a passion for working with underserved populations, particularly those struggling with housing insecurity and affected by severe and persistent mental illness. He was previously medical director for Circle the City, a houseless health care organization in Phoenix, Arizona, and a primary care physician for Cascadia Health, a Certified Community Behavioral Health organization in Oregon.
Dr. Pexton’s approach to care is to meet people where they are in their health care journey and understand their unique background and priorities. He enjoys connecting with his patients and creating a relationship where people feel empowered and in control of their health care.
In his free time, he enjoys running, rock climbing, paddle boarding, playing board games, reading, drawing, exploring the Pacific Northwest and playing with his wife and daughter.

Insurance
Before scheduling an appointment
- Check your network. If you have health insurance, call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
- Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.
If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

I was extremely impressed with everyone I dealt with.
Best doctor my son has ever had.
Dr Pexton is warm, knowledgeable, and kind.
Always inquisitive. Right On!
Pexton is amazing. The first nurse that brought me in seemed angry with me or very short for some reason. She brought me in from the waiting room to another nurse. I'm not sure why she wasn't friendly or kind but usually everyone is so sweet to me here. It was odd.
Very good
Very thorough in discussing my issue
Dr. Pexton is the most compassionate, strengths-based, solution-focused doctor I have ever seen in my life. I am extremely grateful for his approach to helping me.
I'm thankful to have had such a wonderful experience during my first visit with Dr. Pexton. He listened to my concerns. He asked questions. He clarified information for me. I felt seen. I felt heard. In a time when we've come to expect a doctor to spend a couple minutes in the room and run off to the next patient, Dr. Pexton spent 40 minutes with me making sure all my concerns were addressed as we developed a treatment plan moving forward. I found a diamond in the rough for a primary care provider.
I love Dr. Pexton. He's great, even though he's always late to his appointments.
Nurse was very careful to let my child feel unjudged and not pushed around. Care was gender affirming.
Both the nurse and doctor were very friendly, and made me feel cared about when I was hurting. They explained things well and thoroughly answered my many questions.
